Our Story

About Casey's Smile

Born from grief. Fueled by love. Built so no one has to fight alone.

Casey's Story

Casey Carlisle was a United States Marine Corps veteran, a son, a brother, and a friend to everyone lucky enough to know him. He carried the weight of his service with quiet strength — the kind of strength that can make it hard for others to see when someone is struggling on the inside.

Casey lost his battle with the invisible wounds of war. His death left a hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him — but it also lit a fire. His father, Don Carlisle, refused to let Casey's story end in silence.

"Casey's smile could light up a room. That's what I want people to remember — and that's what I want this organization to carry forward."— Don Carlisle, Founder

Casey's Smile was founded in Casey's memory — not as a monument to loss, but as a living commitment to making sure other families don't have to go through what the Carlisles did. Every tribute on our wall, every event we attend, every dollar donated is a way of saying: we see you, and you are not alone.

Don's Mission

Don Carlisle is a father who turned the worst moment of his life into a mission to protect other families. After losing Casey, Don channeled his grief into action — building an organization that meets people where they are, without judgment, without red tape, and without letting anyone slip through the cracks.

Don's approach is simple: show up. Whether that means attending a community event, helping a family cover rent during a crisis, or just making sure a struggling veteran knows someone is in their corner — Casey's Smile is there.

Don is also a proud member of the 4 Lo Idaho Off-Road community, where the same spirit of brotherhood and showing up for each other runs deep. That community has become one of Casey's Smile's strongest partners in spreading mental health awareness across Idaho.

What We Believe

Three principles guide everything Casey's Smile does.

No One Fights Alone

Casey's Smile was built on the belief that no veteran, no family member, no person in crisis should ever feel invisible. We show up — every time.

Honoring Those Who Served

Veterans carry burdens most of us will never understand. We exist to make sure the weight of that service never has to be carried in silence.

Community Is the Cure

Healing happens in community. Through events, outreach, and connection, we build the kind of family that catches people before they fall.

Our Partnership with 4 Lo Idaho Off-Road

4 Lo Idaho Off-Road is more than a  group — it's a brotherhood built on the same values that Casey's Smile was founded on. Loyalty, showing up for each other, and never leaving anyone behind. Together, we use off-road events, trail rides, and community gatherings to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention across Idaho and beyond.

Events like Wheeling 4 the Struggle are a direct result of this partnership — bringing the off-road community together around a cause that matters, proving that healing and adventure can go hand in hand.
